The publication process at Historia: Journal of History Education is designed to ensure that every manuscript is handled fairly, transparently, and in accordance with international standards of scholarly publishing. Each submission undergoes the following stages:
Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system in accordance with the journal's Author Guidelines.
Initial Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Office conducts a preliminary assessment to ensure that the manuscript fits the journal's scope, complies with the submission requirements, and meets basic academic writing standards. Manuscripts that do not satisfy these requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external review.
Section Editor Assessment
A Section Editor evaluates the manuscript for its academic relevance, originality, and overall suitability before assigning it to a reviewer.
Peer Review
The manuscript is reviewed by at least one reviewer using a single-blind peer review process. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, scientific quality, methodology, significance, clarity of presentation, and compliance with ethical standards.
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewer's recommendations, the Editor makes one of the following decisions:
Accept without revision;
Accept with minor revisions;
Major revisions required;
Reject.
Author Revision
If revisions are requested, the author revises the manuscript and submits the revised version along with a response to the reviewer's comments within the specified deadline.
Final Editorial Review
The revised manuscript is evaluated by the Editor and, if necessary, returned to the reviewer for further assessment before a final decision is made.
Copyediting and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, language editing, formatting, and proofreading to ensure consistency, readability, and compliance with the journal's publication standards.
Layout and Galley Proof
The manuscript is typeset into the journal's publication format. The galley proof is sent to the corresponding author for final approval before publication.
Online Publication
After final approval, the article is assigned to an issue and published on the journal's website. The published article becomes permanently accessible online and may be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), if applicable.
