Peer Review Process

Historia: Journal of History Education adopts a double-blind peer review policy, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the review process until the submitted article is published.

Each research article submitted to the journal is reviewed by at least one (1) reviewer with expertise relevant to the subject area of the manuscript. Articles that are accepted for publication will be published online after successfully completing all stages of the peer review process. Manuscripts may be submitted in either Indonesian or English.

The purpose of the peer review process is to evaluate the validity, quality, and originality of manuscripts submitted for publication. Its primary objective is to uphold academic integrity by identifying and filtering out manuscripts that do not meet the journal's quality standards or contain methodological weaknesses.

For the publisher, peer review serves as an essential quality control mechanism, ensuring that only high-quality manuscripts are published in a reputable scholarly journal. This process also helps maintain and enhance the journal's academic standards, credibility, and reputation.

The peer review process adds significant value to published articles. Therefore, the editorial team is committed to ensuring that every manuscript is evaluated through an objective, independent, and rigorous review process.

One of the principal benefits of peer review is the improvement of manuscript quality through constructive feedback provided by reviewers. This process encourages authors to produce high-quality scholarly work while assisting them in refining their manuscripts before publication.

Evaluation Criteria

Each submitted manuscript will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. Originality and its scholarly contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

2. The appropriateness of the theoretical framework, concepts, and research methodology.

3. The consistency and coherence of the analysis, including the alignment between the research objectives, methods, results, and discussion.

4. The clarity of presentation, including grammar, writing style, and the author's ability to communicate ideas effectively.

5. Compliance with the journal's Author Guidelines and manuscript formatting requirements.

Estimated Review Timeline

In general, the manuscript evaluation process takes approximately 1–4 months from the date of submission, following the stages below:

1. Initial Editorial Screening to assess the manuscript's scope, administrative completeness, and compliance with the journal's submission guidelines (approximately 21 days).

2. Section Editor Evaluation to determine the manuscript's suitability before it is assigned to a reviewer (approximately 1 month).

3. Peer Review Process conducted by at least one reviewer through a single-blind peer review process (approximately 2 months).

4. After all review reports have been received and evaluated by the editor, the editorial decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) will be communicated to the author within approximately 1 month after the review process has been completed.
